The F-150's legendary ability to work still depends on a steel backbone.
From its fully boxed, high-strength-steel frame to the use of high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloys* in its body and bed, this F-150 takes tough to a whole new level. Weighing in as much as 700 lbs. less than its predecessor helps make this truck a whole lot more capable and more effective too. Plus, it accelerates, brakes and resists corrosion like never before. In addition, we standardized the chemistry of the aluminum alloy used in construction of the 2015 F-150 body and bed to facilitate recycling. Our aluminum scrap can be reclaimed and sent back into the manufacturing process to minimize waste.
Our new, fully-boxed high-strength steel frame is stronger and more rigid than ever with eight cross sections. Many steel components of the 2015 F-150 are designed to enable using a roll-forming process that minimizes weight and maintains strength.

Max payload 2,250 lbs. and 8,500-lb. max towing.† Like its predecessor, the 3.5L EcoBoost, this second-generation 2.7L EcoBoost dynamo achieves great low-end torque and capability combined with efficiency, bringing EcoBoost technology to a new level. The compacted graphite iron block is extremely strong. It’s the same material we use in the engine block of our 6.7L Power Stroke® diesel. Auto Start-Stop technology, a variable-displacement oil pump, and new stronger yet lighter connecting rods are just a few of the innovations that make our newest EcoBoost engine efficient and powerful enough for your work site, or for that matter.
It delivers 283 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque for a max payload of 1,910 lbs. and max towing capacity of 7,600 lbs.† Its twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) automatically adjusts intake and exhaust for enhanced efficiency.
Proven tough after years of real-world job site torture and with more than 400,000 EcoBoost-equipped F-150s out on the road this available EcoBoost delivers the kind of power you’d expect from a V8 with the kind of efficiency you’d expect from a V6.
Trusted eight-cylinder power with twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT), variable valve overlap for traditional V8 power, performance and capability plus it is also flex-fuel capable.
It’s larger and more convenient with tabs that make navigation between screens easy. It’s command central for your truck, right in front of you.
You can choose the screens you use the most often (up to seven) and put them into one consolidated view for greater convenience.

The 60 percent side of the 60/40 rear seat folds to reveal a storage bin. A pull-out bin is beneath the middle front seat of the 40/20/40 configuration.
